Define Compliments

Compliments show others how we feel, that we care about them and that we want to make them happy.

The lovey-dovey ones are nice, but really, as all of our mothers have said, it's the thought the counts. Casual or funny compliments are just as good as romantic compliments; they make someone you care about smile. You let someone know that you were thinking of them.

As a sidenote, for compliment vs complement, the one with an e means "to go well with something." Cabernet Sauvignon complements red meats, but you give your compliments to the chef.

Sweet Things to Say to Your Girlfriend

Our girlfriends need to hear sweet things from us, and most (some?) definitely deserve them. Don't ruin it by giving her a weak or lame compliment - get the timing right and make her feel loved.
